Using Quarterly Themes to Achieve Our Goals

 In Logistics Blog

Each year, we like to have some fun by picking a theme for the year, and then variations of that theme in each quarter. For 2015, our theme is entertainment/show biz related and called Award Winning Performances. All of our goals and rewards for meeting those goals as a team are wrapped around this theme.

Each theme is loosely based around the EGOT (to quote Tracey Morgan in 30 Rock.) The EGOT stands for Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. There are only a handful of people who have won all four, including several that might surprise you.

We have both company wide goals and department goals, which in keeping with the theme, are called “casts”, i.e. International cast, full truckload cast, etc. Lots of drawings for individual entertainment related prizes as well as company outings for achieving goals, as well as “Star Performer” each quarter who will win cash, paid time off, and their name painted on their designated parking space.

Our 2nd Core Value is Happy Employees, and so making the work environment fun is an important part of our culture. Happy people in a fun atmosphere working to make our customer’s lives a little simpler is what we do. And hopefully, we make the world a tiny bit brighter for our team, our vendors, and our customers along the way.
